Who we are

St. Johns United Church of Christ was originally organized on July 4, 1845 at its current location on St Rte 587 just outside of Fostoria OH. St. John’s was initially named the “Fruth Congregation”; the first worshipers were German immigrants who settled in Louden Township around 1833. Rev. Adam A. Conrad, a member of the Lutheran Synod of Ohio was the first named Pastor. On July 4, 1865 the church became a United Lutheran and Reformed Church.

The building was first erected in 1851 on land donated by John Cramer. The brick church was built in 1878 and remodeled in 1911. In 1937 the remodeled building was partially destroyed by a tornado. It was rebuilt and then, expanded in 1969.
